Room Selection

We are excited to announce that the Fall ’26/Spring ’27 housing applications will open on March 23rd at 9am. This is the Monday immediately following Spring Break. Rutgers University has transitioned to a new housing software platform, StarRez, and the housing application and room selection process you may be familiar with has changed slightly. Please review the self-selection timelines carefully:

 Selection Schedule

• March 23rd – April 17th
  Graduate and Law students
• March 23rd – April 5th
  Rising Seniors and Juniors
• April 6th – April 17th
  Rising Sophomores

All returning students may log in beginning March 23rd to complete their application and participate in their designated selection window.  Failure to apply and participate during your window may result in you being placed in a building or suite that isn’t your preference.  Housing is on a first come, first serve basis with priority given to those living the furthest away from campus.  Housing isn’t guaranteed, as there are limited spaces available. If you are planning to live with suitemates you know, we strongly encourage you to connect with those you intend to live with ahead of time to ensure you all apply and select housing during the same time period. Selecting at different times may result in your preferred room or suite becoming unavailable. We also encourage you to prepare in advance by reviewing housing options, confirming roommate plans, and marking your selection dates on your calendar. Additional details and instructions will be shared prior to the application opening.
