TRiO Student Support Services

TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) at Rutgers University-Camden is a federally funded program that provides academic support services and activities to students from first-generation and limited income families as well as students with disabilities.

Become a TRiO Scholar

There is no cost to participate for students who qualify.  The program is fully funded by the U.S. Department of Education through Rutgers University–Camden. The TRiO SSS at Rutgers–Camden will ensure equitable access and participation to students regardless of their gender, race, national origin, color, disability, and/or age. Incoming first-year and transfer students are strongly encouraged to apply.

Am I Eligible?

To be eligible to receive TRiO Student Support Services (SSS)), a student must be a citizen or national of the United States or meet residency requirements for federal student financial assistance, be accepted and enrolled at Rutgers UniversityCamden, be in need of academic support, and meet one or more of the following:

  • Be a first-generation college student (neither parent/guardian completed a bachelor’s degree) 
  • Have a documented disability (is registered with the Office of Disability Services)
  • Be from a limited income home (according to federal income guidelines)  

Expectations of Scholars

Once admitted into TRiO Student Support Services (SSS), the participating student will be invited to attend a New Student Orientation or have a one-on-one session with their appointed TRiO counselor.

Students are expected to be active in the program are expected to complete the following requirements:

  • Meet with their TRiO SSS counselor a minimum of two times each semester
  • Attend 2 approved campus workshops each semester
  • Meet with their Academic Advisor each semester for course registration
  • Complete their FAFSA
