New Student Orientation
Prior to the start of your first semester at Rutgers-Camden, you will have the opportunity to participate in new student orientation. These sessions are designed to help you learn important information about next steps in your transition to college, as well as connect with fellow peers and RU-Camden staff who will be part of your Scarlet Raptor family! Find out more details about orientation dates.
Summer Bridge
Summer Bridge is an exciting initiative hosted by the Division of Student Academic Success. This program is designed to help incoming first-year students get a head start on the transition to college life. This weeklong program offers students the opportunity to participate in activities that will help them develop skills to facilitate their personal, social, academic, and professional success in the fall semester and beyond. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to create connections with fellow peers, campus staff, and faculty that will serve as a support network as they navigate their college experience!
Student Success Coach Office
Student Success Coaching supports first-year Rutgers–Camden students (excluding EOF and Honors College participants) through one-on-one meetings and year-round programs that promote a successful college transition.
More Information
First Year Experience Seminar
0:090:101 First Year Seminar is a course for students in majors within the College of Arts and Sciences. This seminar is designed to help you make a strong start at Rutgers University–Camden by connecting you with faculty, peers, and campus resources that will support you throughout your college journey.
Your First-Year Seminar will provide you with the opportunity to:
- Explore strategies for academic success and personal growth
- Build relationships with faculty and classmates in a small, engaging learning environment
- Learn about the programs, services, and opportunities available to you on campus
- Develop skills that will help you thrive both in and out of the classroom
Students who are in the School of Business or School of Nursing are also enrolled in first-year seminars offered by their department. These seminars provide all the same benefits while being focused specifically on knowledge, skills, and resources that will help you be successful in your major.
First Year Campus Connect
First Year Campus Connect: Study, Chill, Belong
In addition to navigating the campus, and adjusting to the academic rigor, finding your “tribe,” or your community in college can be one of the hardest parts of the first year. Even with a campus as small as Rutgers-Camden, it’s easy to feel lost, or even a bit lonely! That is why we have launched the “First Year Campus Connect: Study, Chill, Belong” a weekly series of events throughout the year designed to help you connect with your fellow first-year community! Check out the flyer below to learn more details and dates this fall semester! Event details can be found on the Student Academic Success Engage page.
Student Testimonial
“Success Coaching helped me a lot throughout my freshman year. I came in very confused about if I wanted to stay or transfer and that did not stop Coach Ashanti from giving me her all to help me in whatever way she could. I was given plenty of support and help when it came to things like schoolwork and financial aid but also an outlet to just talk to someone if I was feeling overwhelmed”
- Raizel Febles, Class of 2028
