Camden Fellows

Founded in 2020, the Camden Fellows program is a support program for students who are current or former foster care youth with lived experience in the child welfare system as an adolescent. Camden Fellows provides a supportive community on the Rutgers-Camden campus where students with the unique shared experience of the child services system are encouraged and celebrated to reach their full potential.

What We Offer

Personal Coaching

One-on-one supportive coaching to help Fellows achieve their academic and personal goals

Workshops

Camden Fellows attend educational and career sessions to enhance personal growth

Resources & Opportunities

Gain access to essential resources tailored to student needs, including housing support,
internship placements, and other critical services

Student Basic Needs

Based on individual needs and resource availability, support students facing financial hardship and emergency funding.

These funds can help cover:

  • Textbooks and Course Materials
  • Essential Living Expenses
  • Food, Transportation, and Other Basic Needs

Support is provided through a streamlined application process.

How To Get Started

Camden Fellow applicants must have previous or current involvement with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), or any state child welfare agency after the age of 13, and/or are at risk for homelessness.

Applicants must also be:

•  Between the ages of 18-24 at the time of application



•  Be accepted as a full-time student at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Camden campus



•  Have a completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
