NJ-STEP/Mountainview Community

The Mountainview Community within NJ-STEP at Rutgers University supports justice-impacted students by fostering academic success, community engagement, and personal development as they transition from incarceration to higher education. It provides mentorship, advising, and peer support to promote retention, graduation, and leadership in pursuit of social and educational equity.

What We Offer

Dedicated academic advising and mentoring tailored to the reentry experience, helping students navigate course selection, credit transfer, and long-term planning.

Peer support community that fosters belonging, reduces isolation, and connects students with others who share lived experience.

Career development resources such as internships, job placement support, and employer networking geared toward reducing barriers to employment.
