Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden Receives Proclamation From Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen in Honor of National Nurse Practitioner Week

In honor of National Nurse Practitioner Week, the Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden received a proclamation from City of Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen recognizing the school’s students, alumni and faculty who have made countless contributions to the health and wellbeing of Camden residents and surrounding communities.

“It’s an honor to be able to recognize our nurse practitioners, who work to expand access to care in underserved communities, work to end health disparities, combat systemic racism in health care and have continued to provide front-line care during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Mayor Carstarphen. “The Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden is committed to educating a broadly diverse student body who will deliver exceptional health care, generate innovative knowledge and provide transformative leadership to improve health outcomes.”
Rutgers University–Camden Chancellor Antonio D. Tillis echoed the sentiment, noting that the Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden, and its doctor of nursing practice (DNP) program, prepares nurses to become unparalleled health care leaders in our communities.
“With opportunities to work with our world-class faculty and join a collaborative community of nursing and health care researchers, our doctor of nursing practice students are rigorously prepared to become capable change agents, in the health care professional space,” says Chancellor Tillis.

“Our mayor understands and knows firsthand how our faculty and students provide value-based, quality health care to the residents of Camden,” says Nickitas. “We have stood with him in providing information, education and vaccinations to all who were in need and continued to do so through the COVID-19 pandemic. Our community-based population health services are deep and wide throughout Camden.”
Students enrolled in the Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden DNP program can choose from suggested plans of study that include adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner and a post-master’s option for nurse practitioners.
The program offers part- and full-time study options that won’t disrupt students’ careers as well as seamless transitions for qualified undergraduate students. Students also enjoy access to a state-of-the-art, 100,000-square-foot teaching and research facility that includes high-tech, high-touch simulation labs and a case-study room. Clinical partners for the DNP students include LEAP Academy.
