Students at Rutgers University–Camden

Office of Retention

The Office of Retention, housed within the Student Academic Success Division, works to address issues that lead to student attrition and implement student centered interventions that promote student success. Through a data informed lens, we work to understand our students, their needs, and their overall experiences at Rutgers—Camden in order to provide targeted support throughout the student lifecycle.

What We Do

We’re here to help students get to the finish line. Our team works to examine trends and patterns across the Rutgers—Camden student population to help us get a better understanding of what barriers students face and what support they need. Some areas of research include:

•  Academic habits and progress towards degree
•  Social adjustment to college
•  Financial wellness
•  College resource usage
•  Student success

Our Services

Divisional Data Support

The Office of Retention supports the Student Academic Success Division with data needs related to various student cohorts, in addition to the coordination of aligned efforts across the SAS division to support student retention.

Cross Collaborative Data Support

Outside of Student Academic Success, our data support also extends to campus partners through shared student success initiatives. This includes student progress report activity in collaboration with campus faculty, student event tracking in collaboration with the Office of Student Involvement, and more.

Navigate Platform Support

The Navigate platform is a Student Success Management System that connects students, advisors, faculty, staff, and administrators to support Rutgers–Camden students throughout their academic journey. Our office oversees platform administration, provides user training, and manages key initiatives such as student progress reports.

Data Informed Retention Strategies

What do we do with the data we collect? We turn it into support. From targeted student outreach and communications, to examining and clarifying institutional processes, our role is to use data for good to help students get to graduation.
