K-12 AI Exploration 

(High School Track)

Program Overview

The K-12 AI Exploration Track introduces high school students to AI as a creative, ethical, real-world tool.  Designed to inspire curiosity to expertise, this track emphasizes imagination, discovery, and problem-solving with AI.

Program Highlights

Duration: 8-10 weeks (summer)
Audience: High school students (grades 9-12)
Facilitators: Rutgers AI Coaches and School Mentors

Program Structure

Weekly Workshops

Hands-on introductions to topics like: AI & Art, AI & the Environment, Data storytelling, Responsible AI, and Everyday AI applications

Mini-Projects

Students create small, meaningful projects such as: Simple ML demonstrations, Generative art, Community data visualizations, and AI mini reports.

Mentorship

Each school team is paired with 1 Rutgers AI Coach and 1 school mentor

Outcomes

Students present their projects during the AI Campus Summer Showcase alongside Rutgers students and community guests.
