Rutgers School of Business–Camden’s Inaugural Celebration of Distinction Honors Alumni and Community Partners

The event recognized award recipients for their meaningful contributions to Rutgers–Camden and the community.
The mood was festive as faculty, staff, alumni, corporate, and community partners came together at the Rutgers University–Camden Campus Center for the first annual Rutgers School of Business–Camden Celebration of Distinction, an event designed to honor alums, corporate, and community partners for their notable achievements and contributions to the university and beyond.
“Rutgers School of Business–Camden has grown into a true catalyst for transformation through academic excellence, research, and engagement with our region and beyond,” Dean Monica Adya said. “Our honorees exemplify that vision, demonstrating how Rutgers–Camden prepares leaders who make a meaningful difference in business and society.”
The evening’s program was led by master of ceremonies Steve Selfridge SBC’79, who serves as the business school’s executive-in-residence and is a member of the Dean's Leadership Council.
The awards themselves also held special significance. Each was adorned with a representation of a feather, which throughout history has symbolized honor, strength, trust, and wisdom. In many traditions, especially among Native American communities, feathers, such as those of the eagle, are earned through acts of courage and bestowed as marks of deep respect. The feather was also a symbol of the university's mascot, the Scarlet Raptor, embodying strength and the confidence to embrace challenges with courage.
The evening’s events both honored individual accomplishments and reflected the collective spirit that defines the Rutgers School of Business–Camden community. It also reaffirmed the school’s enduring commitment to shaping the next generation of innovators and changemakers who will continue to make a lasting impact on business and society.
