Rutgers University–Camden Operating Status and Updates for Monday, February 23, and Tuesday, February 24,2026

It is time for the Rise of the Raptor.

High above the skyline, where the Delaware River meets the horizon, a majestic raptor soars with purpose. Its wings stretch wide, powerful and unwavering, as it glides over the iconic Ben Franklin Bridge—a symbol of connection and resilience.

The raptor’s gaze is fixed firmly on the future, embodying strength, ambition, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. This is not just a bird in flight; it is a beacon of aspiration, a guardian of progress, and a champion of community.

Rutgers University–Camden charged into a new chapter of campus pride this week as the Scarlet Raptor mascot made its long-awaited debut at Raptor Rally 2026, the largest community pep rally of the year, held during a men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader against the New Jersey City University Knights.

The mascot was unveiled at halftime of the women’s basketball game in the Athletic and Fitness Center before a packed crowd of students, alumni, faculty, and community members. As music filled the arena and lights shifted, the Scarlet Raptor ran onto the court to sustained applause, signaling the arrival of a new era on campus.

With bold red feathers, an unmistakable strut, and high-flying energy, the new mascot immediately electrified the crowd, dancing with the spirit squad, hyping up students, and posing for selfies.

University officials described the Scarlet Raptor as a symbol of strength, determination, and forward momentum, qualities that reflect the continued growth and community commitment of Rutgers University–Camden.

In addition to introducing the new mascot, the university honored standout achievements from its basketball history. All-time 1,000-point scorers were recognized on the court, and the 1975–76 men’s basketball team, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics District 31 finalist, was celebrated during halftime of the men’s game.

The rally atmosphere was amplified by performances from the Philadelphia 76ers Drumline, whose high-energy set reverberated throughout the arena. The Rutgers–Camden Cheer Team and the Rutgers–Camden Royales, the university’s stomp and shake cheer team, also performed throughout the evening, leading chants and sustaining the crowd’s enthusiasm.

The night ended on a high note, as the women’s team closed out its regular season with an 86–59 victory to secure a berth in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs, and the men’s team delivered a 70–64 win punctuating an evening that celebrated both the program’s history while ushering in an exciting new chapter for the university.
