1980s
The 1980s marked a leap in academic and student life. Graduate School–Camden was founded in 1981; Walter K. Gordon was appointed Provost in 1982. In 1986, the campus opened its first student housing—a six-story residence hall welcoming learners from across the country and abroad—and acquired the historic Johnson Library, now home to the Digital Studies Center. The decade closed with the launch of the School of Business–Camden in 1988 and the opening of the Business and Science Building in 1989.
