Rutgers Accelerate & Renew Academy (RARA)
The Rutgers Accelerate & Renew Academy (RARA) is a transformative tutoring and mentorship program serving students in Camden City through AmeriCorps-funded service. Since launching in 2023, RARA has supported 155 students and counting through high-impact tutoring partnerships across Camden City. The program aims to break down barriers to academic success through high-quality academic instruction and intentional social-emotional development.
Focused Tutoring. Real Growth.
In collaboration with the Camden City School District, Catholic Partnership Schools, and city- and nonprofit-based community centers, RARA delivers High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) through 1:1–1:3 small-group instruction, ensuring personalized attention and meaningful learning relationships. Programming focuses on English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), with social-emotional skill development intentionally embedded across tutoring sessions.
Students participate in consistent tutoring sessions two to three times per week, depending on partner site and program model. This approach supports sustained academic growth while prioritizing whole-child development and relationship-based learning in both school-based and out-of-school-time settings.
