Rutgers University-Camden Community Partnership Centers

Rutgers University-Camden Community Partnership Centers

In 2023 Rutgers-Camden was the recipient of federal funding to support a partnership between Rutgers–Camden and the City of Camden and other community organizations to enhance programming and resources for Camden residents at the city's community centers. The community centers will focus on the areas of adult education and workforce development, arts and culture, health and wellness, youth and families, educational opportunities, and individual and family supports.

Current programs offered through these partnerships include:

  • Senior Health and Fitness Days: A collaboration between the City of Camden Senior Services and Emergency Assistance, the Office of the Mayor, Rutgers-Camden DICE, and the Rutgers-Camden School of Nursing, these special events offer a resource fair and health and fitness programming for the senior citizens of Camden.
  • Teen Media Programming: An after-school program for pre-teens and teens in video and audio creation and production, offered free of charge at the North Camden Community Center through a partnership between the City of Camden Recreation, Rutgers-Camden DICE, and the Camden YMCA.
  • Outside/In Programming: Camden Recreation offers free programming for K-12 youth on days when school is out but City employees report to work. Rutgers-Camden DICE supplements these Outside/In days with fun and educational workshops.
  • Community Gardens: The Community Engagement Team supports teaching and learning community gardens at its 121 Market Street office, as well as at two community center locations.
  • Teen Programming Advisory Group: A quarterly in-person meeting for providers of teen enrichment programs in Camden to network and share resources.
  • Social-Emotional Learning Support: In Fall 2025 We are exploring ways to combat truancy in Camden public schools and support social-emotional learning through programming at the City of Camden community centers.
