About Us
Mission Statement
The Campus Center at Rutgers University-Camden, guided by, and in support of the mission of the University, hosts facilities, provides services, and supports and sponsors programs that foster the personal development of our students as individuals, advocate for the free expression of ideas, and promote the social, cultural, and educational interests of the campus community. The Campus Center is dedicated to cultivating a supportive, co-curricular learning environment for our students, developing campus community, and encouraging student engagement and leadership development.
The Campus Center also provides opportunities for our students to learn and grow through part-time employment, where a strong focus is placed on the holistic development of everyone. The center also serves as the host to various campus offices. It provides our students and campus community with access to everyday needs, including campus information, lounge space, dining options, and more.
The Role of the Campus Center
The Campus Center serves as an integral part of the University's educational environment, where students can learn and practice leadership, programming, citizenship, and organizational management while developing their own interpersonal skills, communication skills and increasing their intercultural proficiency through service opportunities, group leadership, on-campus employment, and self-initiated activities.
The Campus Center is a place to meet friends (new and old), grab a bite to eat, watch TV, study, or relax. It’s also a place to get involved in the campus community by joining a student organization, writing for our student newspaper, hosting an online radio show, or planning campus events with our student-run programming board. The Campus Center allows students to learn, know, and understand one another through informal association outside of the classroom. With its strong focus on promoting student success, the Center also houses several spaces specifically dedicated to supporting various populations of students, including Campus Activities Board (CAB), The Gleaner Student-Run Newspaper, Interfaith Meditation Room, NJPIRG Office, Student Governing Association, Student Leader Lounge, Student Veterans Lounge, and WCCR Student-Run Radio.
The Campus Center believes in fostering our students' professional and leadership development by offering part-time employment opportunities within the facility, where students serve as Information Assistants, Office Assistants, Building Managers, and more. The center strongly focuses on developing and assessing skills to serve our students as they move forward with their education and career paths, including creative and critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
The Center hosts several key, student-focused offices, including the Career Center, Dean of Students, Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, Military & Veterans Affairs, Student Involvement, and the Student Wellness Center.
