Chancellor’s Lecture Series

Dangerous speech and what we can do about it

Dear Rutgers University–Camden Community:

It is my pleasure to invite you to the Chancellor’s Lecture Series. Please join me in the Campus Center on Thursday, March 7 at 3 p.m. for a keynote address by Susan Benesch, founder and director of the Dangerous Speech Project. In a lecture titled “Dangerous Speech and What We Can Do About It,” she will discuss the proliferation of speech that incites violence, drawing on her experience as a human rights attorney and a researcher in the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. A free speech advocate, Benesch centers her research on data-driven ways to diminish dangerous speech without infringing on open expression.

To register for the event, please click here. I look forward to an illuminating afternoon that will contribute to the important dialogue, research, and scholarship taking place across the Rutgers–Camden campus.

Sincerely,
Antonio D. Tillis, Ph.D.
Chancellor
