Knowing & Growing
Scholar Development is all about uncovering your “WHY” – or your purpose – and determining your overall goals are while you’re at Rutgers – Camden and beyond. You may not know your “WHY” yet – and that’s okay! We’re here to help you begin exploring what matters to you & how your values can align with your future aspirations.
We like to think of our process as knowing yourself and growing into the direction you’d like to go. In order to best serve our students and alumni in their pursuits, we take time to get to know them through assessments and deep conversation, to better understand what they hope to accomplish while at Rutgers – Camden and beyond. Once we get to know you and your goals, we are ready to help match you to the experience(s) that are the best fit for you. With your goals in tow and your future in mind, we’ll determine what types of experiences you’d like to have to cultivate your skillsets!
What type of experience am I looking for?

- Internships
- Research programs (degreed and not)
- Teaching
- Studying abroad
- Community service
- Graduate school

OK, I know what experience I’d like to have, now what?
- OSDFA will work alongside you to assist you in developing self-advocacy skills and clearly defined goals.
- From there, we’ll work on producing and evolving the materials necessary to apply for these experiences. These materials may be:
- Personal Statements / Statements of Purpose
- Resume/CV
- Various award-specific essays
