About Sylvia Mendez
Sylvia Mendez is a civil rights activist and US Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient.
About this Master Class Session
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Sylvia Mendez will facilitate a master class that highlights her pivotal experience at the young age of nine, as an instrumental part of the landmark Mendez v. Westminster School District (1947) lawsuit that paved the way for Brown v. Board of Education (1954) and ended school segregation in California.
