About The Keynote Speaker

Heather Tarleton, Ph.D., M.S., M.P.A.P., serves as the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). As part of her role, Professor Tarleton supports professional development toward inclusive teaching for faculty and works to develop strategies to recruit and retain a highly qualified and diverse faculty body.

Professor Tarleton also serves as an Associate Professor of Health and Human Sciences at LMU. As a molecular biologist and health care practitioner, her research and courses focus on health disparities and health services for marginalized communities. As an instructor, Professor Tarleton encourages her students to be sensitive to the diversity of needs of others and understand the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Loyola Marymount University has implemented a tenure and promotion package that recognizes diverse faculty contributions and Professor Tarleton’s insights on the importance of recognizing these contributions within university policy are invaluable.
