Summary:
The Chancellor’s Grant for Student Research supports student involvement in research under the direction of a faculty mentor. The program encourages students to define objectives and select methodologies appropriate for original research in their chosen field of study directed by a faculty member.
Grant Amount: Up to $8,000
Grant Period: Semi-annual – Spring/Fall

Application deadline for the upcoming Fall term is 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
Criteria:
The Chancellor’s Grant for Student Research at Rutgers University–Camden is designed to support and empower students who are enthusiastic about pursuing research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. To be eligible for this grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Enrollment Status:
Applicants must be currently enrolled as full-time undergraduate or graduate students at Rutgers University–Camden in good academic standing.
Faculty Mentor:
Each applicant should identify and secure a faculty mentor who will supervise and guide their research project. Faculty members should write a letter of support indicating that they will guide the student's research.
The faculty mentor must be a full-time or part-time faculty member at Rutgers University–Camden.
Research Project:
Applicants are required to outline a clear and well-defined research project.
The project should align with the applicant's field of study and demonstrate originality in objectives and methodologies.
Academic Standing:
Applicants must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA requirement as determined by the grant program guidelines.
Statement of Purpose:
Applicants should submit a comprehensive statement of purpose that describes their research objectives, methodologies, and the expected outcomes of the project.
Faculty Mentor's Recommendation:
Each applicant must obtain a letter of recommendation from their faculty mentor, endorsing the proposed research project and the student's capability to conduct research. The faculty member will guide the research and mentor the student.
Budget Proposal:
Applicants should provide a detailed budget proposal outlining the estimated costs required to carry out the research project.
Budgets should include expenses such as research materials, travel (if applicable), and any other relevant costs.
Research Proposal Evaluation:
The proposed research project will be evaluated based on its academic rigor, originality, feasibility, and alignment with the chosen field of study.
All successful applicants must be willing to present their research or culminating project at Rutgers-Camden Research Week.
Mentor's Commitment:
The faculty mentor should commit to actively guiding and supervising the student throughout the research process.
