Summary:
The Chancellor’s Grant for Pedagogical Innovation promotes excellence and creativity in classroom instruction. These funds are for departmental/school use for the purpose of piloting an exploratory course that will enhance curricular offerings. Proposals must come from department, schools, or area chairs. The intended course must reflect pedagogical innovation. This grant is not intended for individual faculty course development.

Criteria:
The Chancellor's Grant for Pedagogical Innovation at Rutgers University–Camden is intended to promote excellence and innovation in classroom instruction by supporting departmental or school initiatives to pilot exploratory courses that enhance curricular offerings. To be eligible for this grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Authorized Applicants:
Proposals for the grant must be submitted by the department chair, school dean, or designated area chair who has the authority to make curricular decisions.
Departmental or School Use:
The grant is designed for departmental or school use, and proposals should clearly indicate how the funds will be utilized to pilot a new course.
Pedagogical Innovation:
The intended course must reflect pedagogical innovation, introducing new and creative instructional methods, approaches, or technologies to enhance the learning experience for students.
Curricular Enhancement:
Proposals should demonstrate how the exploratory course will enhance the overall curricular offerings within the department or school.
Collaboration and Impact:
Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with faculty members within the department or center to ensure that the proposed course has a broad and meaningful impact on students.
No New Individual Faculty Course Development:
The grant is not intended for individual faculty members to develop their own new courses.
Application Process:
The application process for the Chancellor's Grant for Pedagogical Innovation at Rutgers University–Camden is designed to encourage innovative classroom instruction and the piloting of exploratory courses within departments and schools. The following steps outline the application process:
Step 1: Identification of Authorized Applicant
The department chair, school dean, or designated area chair, with the authority to make curricular decisions, identifies a pedagogical innovation opportunity within their department or school to pilot.
Step 2: Development of Pedagogical Innovation Proposal
The department or school submits a comprehensive proposal outlining the innovative pedagogical approach and the intended impact on enhancing course offerings with a department or school. Again, the proposal should clearly indicate how the exploratory course will enhance the overall curricular offerings within the department or school.
A plan for curriculum enhancement should detail how the new course aligns with departmental or school goals.

Step 3: Budget Proposal Development
The submitting unit creates a detailed budget proposal that specifies how the grant funds will be used to support the piloting of the exploratory course.
The budget should include a breakdown of expenses, such as materials, technology, guest speakers, or other costs associated with pedagogical innovation.
Step 4: Application Submission
Completed applications, including the pedagogical innovation proposal and budget, are submitted by the specified deadline.
Step 5: Application Review
A review committee evaluates the applications to assess the alignment of the proposal with the grant criteria.
Step 6: Award Notification
Successful applicants are notified through official award notifications.
The notification includes details about the grant, expectations, and funding disbursement.
Step 7: Pedagogical Innovation Implementation
Academic units or schools are responsible for appropriately implementing the proposed course.
Step 8: Reporting and Accountability
Grant recipients provide a summary report that outlines the departmental/school outcomes and impact of the course.
