Summary:
The Chancellor’s Learning Abroad Course Scholarship seeks to aid students in international discovery by providing financial support for short-term travel that is a part of regularly offered semester-based courses. The goal is to augment classroom instruction with experiential learning opportunities outside the United States. Ultimately, the scholarship’s goal is to fund international opportunities that will inspire and equip students to navigate and engage effectively with global communities.
Award Amount: Up to $2,000
Award Period: Semi-annual – Spring/Fall

Criteria:
The Chancellor's Learning Abroad Course Scholarship is designed to support students in their pursuit of international discovery, enriching their academic journey through cultural experiential learning opportunities beyond our borders. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Enrollment Status:
Applicants must be currently enrolled as degree-seeking students at Rutgers University–Camden.
Course Enrollment:
Applicants must be registered in a regularly offered, semester-based course at Rutgers University–Camden that includes a mandatory short-term international travel component as part of the course curriculum. The travel component should be integral to the learning objectives of the course.
Academic Standing:
Applicants should maintain good academic standing with a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA as specified in the scholarship guidelines.
Financial Need:
While not the sole determinant, preference may be given to applicants who can demonstrate financial need. This may include students who are Pell Grant recipients or can provide a statement of financial need.
Scholarship Purpose:
Applicants should clearly articulate how the international experience aligns with their academic and career goals. They should demonstrate a strong commitment to utilizing this opportunity to enhance their global awareness and cultural competence.
Commitment to Cultural Engagement:
Successful applicants should exhibit a genuine interest in engaging with global communities and a commitment to becoming culturally aware citizens. This commitment can be demonstrated through previous experiences, coursework, or extracurricular activities that reflect an appreciation for cultural diversity.
Letters of Recommendation:
Applicants should provide at least one letter of recommendation from a faculty member who can speak to their academic potential and readiness for international travel and cultural immersion.
Scholarship Engagement: Recipients of the Chancellor's Learning Abroad Course Scholarship are expected to actively participate in all components of the international travel component of the course, engage fully with the cultural experiences offered, and be ambassadors for Rutgers University–Camden during the trip.
Submission of a Reflective Essay:
Applicants are required to submit a reflective essay explaining how the international travel experience will contribute to their personal and academic growth, as well as how it aligns with the scholarship's goal of inspiring global engagement.

Step 1: Access the Online Application Portal
Students can access the scholarship application portal through a user-friendly, dedicated webpage on the Rutgers University–Camden website. This page will provide clear instructions and access to the online application form.
Step 2: Review Eligibility and Guidelines
A clear and concise summary of eligibility criteria and scholarship guidelines will be provided on the webpage, ensuring that students have a thorough understanding of the requirements.
Step 3: Complete the Online Application Form
The online application form will be user-friendly and responsive, allowing students to complete it on various devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers.
The form will include easy-to-follow sections with clear instructions. Students will provide basic personal information, academic details, course enrollment information, and a brief statement about how the scholarship aligns with their academic and personal goals.
Step 4: Submit Supporting Documents
A user-friendly document upload feature will be integrated into the online form. Students can easily upload the required documents, including a letter of recommendation, a statement of financial need (if applicable), and a reflective essay.
