Thank You! “We. Saw. You!”

Dear Rutgers University in Camden Family, 

Last week displayed an amazing celebration of Scarlet Pride as Rutgers University–Camden welcomed over 1,700 students from the Class of 2023 into the ranks of over 58,000 alumni.

During last week’s ceremonies, our students, their families, and friends rocked the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion with thunderous cheers and applause. We introduced the Rutgers University–Camden and Graduate School Commencement and presented an Honorary Doctor of Letters degree to former Camden Mayor Dana Redd SBC'96. We held a festival-like celebrations for our graduating students and introduced numerous enhancements to elevate our overall commencement experience.

Due to the collective efforts of the entirety of the Rutgers–Camden community (staff, students, faculty), our graduates, their families, and friends enjoyed heartwarming moments they will remember for the rest of their lives. This was a true team effort from the groundskeeper, janitorial staff, food services, and student services, to the countless volunteers, events staff, faculty, Freedom Pavilion staff, and many more… "We. Saw. You!" Some of you greeted our guests; even more of you worked behind the scenes beforehand to plan schedules, develop ceremony technology, create program books, arrange musical performances, and conduct many other activities to guarantee that our students and their families enjoyed flawless celebrations. A special “shoutout” to Kristin Walker, executive director of special initiatives, events, and dining, and her crew for all the coordination.

On behalf of all of us at Rutgers–Camden, thank you for your remarkable dedication to ensuring that these events were memorable and well executed. Commencement 2023 was a success because of you, and I am proud to be a part of this team. 

Finally, I truly hope that everyone had an opportunity to exhale over the weekend after last week’s excitement. I look forward to celebrating with you at the faculty and staff picnic later today!
