Remembering 9/11

To the Rutgers University–Camden community,

Today, our collective community pauses to remember and to pay homage to those affected by and lost their lives to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on our nation. Although 23 years have passed since that tragic day, we will never forget the pain our nation endured. Neither will we forget the brave and valiant first responders and other heroes who courageously saved lives and set us on the long path toward healing. Please keep the victims and their loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult anniversary.

This September 11, let us salute members of our community who serve in the various branches of the armed forces, local emergency personnel, and the Rutgers University Police Department. It is because of their dedication that our nation, state, and campus community are safe and secure. Please also take this day as an opportunity to thank those in our Office of Military and Veterans Affairs, many of whom––even in the face of great personal risk and global uncertainty––took the events of 9/11 as a call to service.

In closing, may we forever keep September 11 etched in our minds and hearts as a day of remembrance and gratitude.
