Charles A. Wright III Named Vice President for Development and Vice Chancellor for Advancement at Rutgers University in Camden

Dear Members of the Rutgers University in Camden Community:

Charles A. “Chuck” Wright III

I am pleased to announce that Charles A. “Chuck” Wright III has accepted the role of vice president for development and vice chancellor for advancement at Rutgers University in Camden. Wright will join the Rutgers University Foundation on May 15, 2023, to lead the advancement team in Camden and serve on the Executive Leadership Team.

I am delighted to welcome Chuck to Rutgers–Camden. He is the ideal leader to advance our university’s priorities in annual giving, alumni engagement, and corporate relations. He is a proven innovator who will engage our network of over 55,000 alumni—along with our nonprofit and corporate partners—in ways that enhance the academic excellence of Rutgers–Camden while promoting educational access and successful outcomes for our students.

With decades of experience in higher education advancement and nonprofit development, Chuck is a proven leader with solid relationships in Philadelphia and South Jersey. Most recently, he served as chief development officer for Philabundance, where he drove the Philadelphia-based hunger relief organization to exceed its annual fundraising goal with months to spare in the fiscal year.

Throughout his career, Chuck has served in leadership roles in higher education fundraising, including at The College of New Jersey, Peirce College, Villanova University, and Widener University. He has been recognized for his contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion and was honored by the CASE District II Board with the creation of the Charles A. Wright Opportunity and Inclusion Award.

Chuck holds a bachelor of arts degree in general arts from Villanova University.

Chuck Wright’s selection concludes an extensive national search. I would like to extend my gratitude to the entire search committee for finding an exceptional vice chancellor who will guide the continued success of Rutgers–Camden’s development and advancement efforts. This inclusive search gave every member of our campus community the opportunity to be heard.

Please join me in welcoming Chuck to Rutgers–Camden. I look forward to the leadership he will bring to our community.

Sincerely,

Antonio D. Tillis, Ph.D.
Chancellor, Rutgers University in Camden
