Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) Certificate

Program Overview

The Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) Certificate at Rutgers University–Camden is a 15-credit graduate program designed to prepare educators to teach English as a Second Language in New Jersey public schools. This program equips teachers with the skills to support multilingual learners across speaking, listening, reading, and writing domains.

Coursework includes linguistics, second language acquisition, developmental literacy, instructional methods, and the structure of American English.
