School Nurse Certificate and Master of Sceince in Nursing (School Nurse Specialty)

Program Overview

Rutgers University–Camden’s School Nurse Specialty Program prepares registered nurses to serve as certified school nurses in New Jersey’s K–12 educational institutions. Students may pursue either a graduate-level certificate or a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialty in school nursing. The program is built on the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Framework for School Nursing Practice and emphasizes trauma-informed care and population health principles.

Two tracks are available:

• School Nurse Certificate (21 credits): For RNs seeking certification without committing to a full MSN.
• MSN in School Nursing: For students who want to continue beyond certification and earn a graduate degree. A second MSN track is also available for post-baccalaureate certified school nurses.
