Student Initiatives

Race, Ethnicity & Intersectionality

The university’s Multicultural Center collaborates with Student Academic Success and other campus resource offices to support students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. Programs such as D.I.C.E. Educational Master Classes and Race and Intersectionality Training & Development offer opportunities for deep learning, while the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) Center facilitates critical discussions on racial healing. Allyship & Advocacy Talks empower students to actively promote inclusivity, and celebrations like the Rites of Passage ceremony honor students’ unique journeys and achievements.

As part of its commitment to inclusive excellence, Rutgers–Camden also provides cultural events and programming that celebrate diverse cultures, histories, and perspectives on campus. These include workshops, lectures, and performances that encourage dialogue and foster understanding. Together, these initiatives, alongside inclusive curriculum development and mentorship programs, enrich the Rutgers–Camden experience by promoting cultural competence and celebrating diversity across the Rutgers-Camden campus community.

LGBTQIA+

Rutgers–Camden offers a central hub for LGBTQ+ students, providing advocacy, support, and access to resources, as well as connections to campus services and local organizations. Peer-led programs create safe spaces for students to connect, share experiences, and foster community. Educational programs and LGBTQ+ training sessions cover topics such as gender identity, inclusivity, and anti-discrimination, available to the entire campus to build awareness and foster a respectful campus climate.

The university also hosts annual events to celebrate LGBTQ+ identity and history, including Pride Month activities, LGBTQ+ History Month, and Trans Day of Remembrance. Signature events include the Rainbow Graduation, which honors the achievements of LGBTQ+ students, and the LGBTQ Youth Summit, which brings high school students to campus for leadership development, community building, and educational workshops.

Interfaith Relations

Our campus is home to students from diverse spiritual backgrounds, including Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, and many others, creating a vibrant tapestry of community enriched by diverse global worldviews. Rutgers–Camden provides a robust environment for religious life, supporting students’ spiritual needs and encouraging interfaith dialogue, civil discourse, and spiritual reflection.

The university offers a range of student organizations, advisors and a chaplaincy group that provides guidance and support across a variety of faiths and spiritual practices. The Interfaith Council, comprised of diverse faith student leaders, campus faculty and staff, and Rutgers–Camden chaplains, fosters collaboration and understanding among different religious groups. This council encourages mutual respect and the pursuit of shared spiritual and intellectual truths.

Additionally, Rutgers–Camden provides interfaith prayer and meditation spaces that accommodate the spiritual needs of students from diverse traditions. These spaces symbolize the university’s commitment to inclusivity, religious diversity, and pluralism. Through these services, Rutgers University–Camden fosters a community where students can engage in meaningful spiritual reflection, build connections, and engage in civil discourse, all while honoring and celebrating their unique religious and spiritual practices.
