2025 Grammy-Award Winner Karen Slack to Perform at Festival Mahogany at Rutgers University–Camden

Festival Mahogany performances run February 28 through March 2 and are FREE and open to the public.

Camden, NJ – February 4, 2025: Festival Mahogany marks the first major event as part of Rutgers University—Camden’s Year of the Arts. This weekend-long celebration of classical music features 2025 Grammy award winner, soprano Karen Slack, who won for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album for her album “Beyond the Years – Unpublished Songs of Florence Price.”

Under the artistic direction of Maestro Marlon Daniel, the weekend will focus on world-renowned performers of color, including the 2024 Grammy award-winning quartet Imani Winds and 2013 Grammy award-nominated composer/conductor Tania Leon.

The festival will also feature rising star Ifetayo Ali-Landing, a cellist featured on NPR’s “From The Top,” composer Fred Onovwerosuoke, the Joyner Duo, composer James Lee III, and Ensemble Du Monde. The weekend will also include a lecture and panel discussion titled "Shattering the Glass Ceiling: Redefining Modern-Day Racism," moderated by Chancellor Tillis.
