News From the Board of Governors

To the Rutgers University in Camden Campus Community:

I am pleased to report that the Rutgers University Board of Governors meeting on Thursday, June 22, included several pieces of excellent news for Rutgers–Camden. Please join me in celebrating the continued growth and success of our university and its exceptional faculty.

First, I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to Michael Carrier of Rutgers Law School in Camden, who has been named a Board of Governors Professor of Law. Board of Governors Professorships are awarded to the most celebrated and decorated academic scholars at Rutgers, whose aggregate academic accomplishments are recognized nationally and globally. Professor Carrier has earned this prestigious honor through his widely cited record of scholarly expertise and his sustained efforts to keep the broader public informed in local, national, and international media outlets.

I am also happy to share that the Board of Governors has approved the creation of the Department of Education and Teacher Preparation in the Graduate School–Camden, which will serve as the academic home to the Rutgers–Camden Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) degree program. The Department of Education and Teacher Preparation will increase available resources for M.A.T. students and serve as a difference maker in the severe teacher shortage within New Jersey and throughout the United States.

Finally, please join me in warmly congratulating Rutgers–Camden faculty whose promotions and tenure appointments were approved by the Board of Governors:

College of Arts and Sciences

  • Nawaf Bou-Rabee – Promotion to Professor of Mathematics
  • Grace Brannigan – Promotion to Professor of Physics
  • Kwangwon Lee – Promotion to Professor of Biology
  • Paul Lisicky – Promotion to Professor of English
  • Thomas Risch – Appointment with tenure as Professor of Biology

School of Nursing

  • Terri-Ann Kelly – Promotion with tenure to Associate Professor of Nursing

Rutgers Law School

  • Ruth Anne Robbins – Promotion with tenure to Professor of Law

Thank you for your continued interest in and dedication to the Rutgers–Camden community. It is because of the collective commitment of everyone on our campus that I have the pleasure of sharing these exciting updates.

Sincerely,

Antonio D. Tillis, Ph.D.
Chancellor, Rutgers University in Camden
