Study Away
The Rutgers–Camden Study Away program connects students to on-the-ground experiences through course-based travel, within the United States and U.S. territories. Study Away is the domestic version of Learning Abroad. Each Study Away experience takes place within a course, which meets on campus semi-regularly throughout the term. Because Study Away travel is domestic, student costs tend to be affordable and do not require a passport.

Past Courses
New Orleans in Person: Cultural Appropriation, Po’Boys and Racial Justice
In January 2020, students visited New Orleans to meet with activists and see up close the tension between tourism and appropriation, and between revitalization and racial justice.
Social Work and Civil Rights (Alabama)
In March 2020, students were escorted to various historical sites in Birmingham, Selma, and Montgomery that are a part of the US Civil Rights Trail, such as the Freedom Riders National Monument.
Population Health in Puerto Rico: Caring for Diverse Needs of a Unique Island Territory
Through collaboration with Puerto Rican nursing students and faculty, students participated in bilingual community health education/outreach and nursing workforce training in disaster preparation.
