Two Rutgers University–Camden Faculty to be Inducted as American Academy of Nursing Fellows
The academy recognizes the profession’s most accomplished leaders in policy, research, practice, and academia.
Camden, NJ – July 9, 2025: Kevin R. Emmons and Jamille Nagtalon-Ramos, both faculty members in the Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden, will be inducted as fellows of the American Academy of Nursing. They are two of only three nursing professionals chosen for the 2025 cohort from the entire state of New Jersey.

The academy serves the public by advancing health policy and practice through the generation, synthesis, and dissemination of nursing knowledge. Academy fellows hold a wide variety of influential roles in health care and contribute to the development of sound policies that help achieve the academy's vision of healthy lives for all people.
Emmons is a clinical professor who has dedicated over 15 years to preparing undergraduate and graduate students to care for individuals with complex healthcare needs. His work emphasizes health equity, focusing on populations disadvantaged by systemic barriers and disparities in healthcare access.
Nagtalon-Ramos is an assistant professor with more than 17 years of experience teaching in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. As a third-generation nurse who was born and raised in the Philippines, she is passionate about exploring the Filipino American experience and investigating sexual reproductive health and health disparities in diverse and vulnerable populations.
