World-Renowned Artist Reynier Llanes to Present “Pursuit of Grace” at Rutgers University–Camden
A continued celebration of the university's Year of the Arts, the exhibition will feature art from Llanes’s catalog and new works created exclusively for this show.
Camden, NJ – July 30, 2025: Rutgers University–Camden, as part of its Year of the Arts celebration, will host “Pursuit of Grace,” an exhibition of existing and new works by internationally recognized artist Reynier Llanes. The exhibition will be on display from September 18 to December 13 in Rutgers–Camden’s Stedman Gallery.
Llanes’s paintings of imagined landscapes explore personal, cultural, environmental, and social themes. Through these subjects, he explores philosophical considerations about time and human experience.
“We are extremely honored to welcome Reynier Llanes to Rutgers University–Camden as part of Year of the Arts,” said Chancellor Antonio D. Tillis. “Llanes’s delicate yet complex compositions challenge the viewer to consider new interpretations of daily life and human nature. The power of art to inspire and imagine new perspectives is one of the reasons we chose to host the Year of the Arts on campus.”
The exhibition will be complemented by a full calendar of events for students and the public, including an opening reception, an artist’s workshop and talk, exhibition tours, and a series of family days at the gallery.
Llanes was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, in 1985. He attended Instructores de Arte for four years, where he learned that some Cuban artists disguise their societal critique through symbols, as the country prohibited direct commentary on political and social realities.
After completing his studies in 2004, Llanes was tutored by one of Cuba’s most recognized realist artists, Juan Miguel Suárez. In 2007, Llanes emigrated from Cuba to the United States, eventually settling in Miami.
Llanes’s work is on permanent exhibition in multiple museums and prominent collections, including the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, the Lowe Art Museum in Miam, the Denver Art Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts in Little Rock, and the Rollins Museum of Art at Rollins College.
