Rutgers University–Camden Alumni Association is hosting a program on March 8, 2023 commemorating the life and legacy of Camden County native Arnold Cream, better known as Jersey Joe Walcott, World Heavyweight Boxing Champion. A statue of his likeness was unveiled in October 2021 at Wiggins Waterfront Park in Camden, NJ.
The discussion will be led by Jennifer Lewis Hall DC’85. She is an Emmy Silver Circle Award Winning TV Journalist; Anchor and Host for PHL17 in Philadelphia, PA; and Producer of PHL17’s public affairs program, In Focus.
Walcott’s grandson – Vincent Cream CCAS’83 is the Grandson of the legendary boxer Jersey Joe Walcott. He will discuss his grandfather’s life as a boxer, and the impact he had in the community through his public life as the first elected African-American Sherriff of Camden County and his work as Chairman of the New Jersey State Athletic Commission.
