Rutgers–Camden Hosts “The Politics of Inclusion” with Former New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean

Camden, NJ – March 16, 2026: Rutgers University–Camden will welcome former New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean for “The Politics of Inclusion,” part of the Chancellor’s Centennial Lecture Series, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Campus Center, 326 Penn Street, Camden, NJ 08102.

Governor Kean will reflect on his storied career in public service, share personal insights from his decades in government and civic life, and discuss strategies for bridging divides in today’s political landscape.

The Chancellor’s Centennial Lecture Series at Rutgers–Camden invites students, faculty, and the community to explore enduring questions around civic engagement, political cooperation, and inclusive leadership. 

Governor Thomas H. Kean served as the 48th governor of New Jersey from 1982 to 1990, during which time he garnered national recognition for pragmatic leadership and bipartisan collaboration. His tenure is noted for significant advancements in education reform, environmental protection, and economic growth. 

Beyond his governorship, Kean has continued to influence public discourse through roles in higher education and national service. He served as president of Drew University and was appointed chair of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (the 9/11 Commission), where he helped guide a bipartisan investigation and offered recommendations to strengthen national security.

He is the author of The Politics of Inclusion, a book advocating cooperation among historically divided political groups.

Doors will open at 3:30 p.m., with a fireside chat beginning promptly at 4:00 p.m., followed by a Q&A session and reception. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is recommended
