The Research Office
The Research Office at Rutgers–Camden supports research, in all its forms, across the campus by assisting students, faculty and staff to identify appropriate funding and collaborative opportunities to advance their work. Biomedical Discovery
The Center for Computational and Integrative Biology (CCIB) at Rutgers University–Camden is an interdisciplinary research and education center that combines computational, mathematical, and experimental approaches to advance the understanding of complex biological systems through undergraduate, graduate, and research programs
AI and Responsible Technology
The Rutgers University–Camden AI Campus (RuCAIC) is an initiative that brings together students, faculty, staff, professionals, and community partners to build AI literacy, workforce readiness, ethical AI practices, and real-world innovation through training, research, collaboration, and community engagement.
Communities and Urban Development
The Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs conducts collaborative, community-engaged research and data analysis on key social issues affecting South Jersey, helping policymakers, agencies, and organizations make informed decisions in areas such as public health, education, transportation, workforce development, and food insecurity.
Ecology and Environment
The Department of Biology at Rutgers University–Camden conducts research across fields ranging from molecular and cellular biology to ecology and computational biology, providing students with hands-on research opportunities supported by advanced laboratory facilities and externally funded scientific projects.
Arts and Humanities
The Mid-Atlantic Regional Center for the Humanities (MARCH) at Rutgers University–Camden is a public humanities research and community engagement center that explores the history, culture, and identity of the Greater Philadelphia region through scholarship, digital resources, public history projects, and educational programs.
Healthcare
The Rutgers University–Camden School of Nursing prepares future nurses and healthcare leaders through accredited academic programs, extensive clinical partnerships, hands-on simulation training, community engagement, and research-driven education focused on improving health outcomes in New Jersey and beyond.
New research supported by the Hillary Project found that while nursing graduates feel clinically prepared for practice, many say future nurses need more help navigating the profession's emotional challenges. In response to this research, Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden and the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs are collaborating to examine how nursing education can play a greater role in supporting long-term well-being.
As the 2025–2026 academic year comes to a close, REACH celebrates the work of our affiliated faculty who have been honored for their work not only in teaching and research, but also in community engagement.
SPARK!, the evolution of Rutgers–Camden’s longtime Research Week, returned this April as a vibrant, campuswide showcase of research and creativity. The expanded program featured faculty lectures, research symposia, student workshops, poster exhibitions, and creative presentations across the sciences, arts, and business, reflecting the breadth and impact of work across the university.
At Rutgers-Camden, every student has access to conduct meaningful research by working with faculty to develop the knowledge, skills, and experiences that prepare them for graduate study, professional careers, and real-world impact.
Center for Computational and Integrative Biology Ph.D. student Jahmal Ennis will develop computational models for gold nanoparticles used in targeted drug delivery through the selective Chateaubriand STEM fellowship, which fosters collaboration between American and French research teams.
A cohort of psychology students and faculty recently presented their research to a global audience at the Convention of the Association for Psychological Science (APS) held in Barcelona. Their poster presentations on emotion recognition and support for renewable energy were part of the international gathering that drew nearly 2,500 attendees from 73 countries to Spain’s second-largest city.
As a first-generation college student, Tiffany Chan once viewed opportunities at the nation's leading research institutions as beyond her reach. This summer, however, the Rutgers University–Camden biology student will join 175 other undergraduate researchers from across the nation as a member of the inaugural Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Cech Fellows Program.
Students who have identified research interests should connect with faculty members whose research topics match their interests. Faculty members can provide students mentorship on research and writing, career advice, and offer valuable academic feedback. Faculty members can guide undergraduate students in developing research skills and constructing independent research projects. Developing relationships with faculty members is an important process that can connect students to future opportunities.

We believe unconventional collaborations lead to unexpected breakthroughs. Our 12 centers and institutes support the collective work of faculty, students and visiting scholars as they generate new knowledge that inspires and redefines their fields.
Rutgers–Camden students have access to all 26 libraries, centers and reading rooms across all Rutgers campuses, as well as our forensic science lab and the Joint Health Science Center.
